How to Manually Install an APK File on a Q Pro

An Android Package File (APK) is best defined as an application file for the Android operating system that Newline devices are ran off. It is important to note that as Android was developed as a mobile OS any file with this name or variant of this name is a mobile version of the software. Given this fact some features you see on a Windows or Mac program may not be present when using the same solution on an Android device.

To manually install an APK file to your Q Pro series.

  1.  Download the APK file that needs to be added to the Newline device
  2. While this is downloading prepare your flash drive, while not always needed for this step pre-formatting the flash drive to FAT32 is recommended.
  3. Once the file is downloaded to your external device, download the file to your flash drive.
  4. Remove the flash drive from your computer and plug it into the front USB 3.0 port on the Q Pro.
  5. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen, only if the panel is using the default theme, if you're using a custom theme navigate to where your apps are located.
  6. Open the "Files" application.
  7. Click USB Storage and double click the APK files to install.
  8. Prompts to allow the installation will appear, please click "Confirm" or "Accept" to allow the installation.
  9. Once the installation, go back to the homepage and open the Apps section on your panel to verify the installation has been completed.

Helpful tips:

  • To get access to APK files for the software solution you are looking for. You can reach out to the developer of the application or use your search engine of choice and type in "Software Name APK" where the software name would be what you are looking for.
  • As with anything that is not managed by Newline, we strongly suggest using recommended internet practices when utilizing third party solutions and checking with your internal admin team to make sure this practice or solution is allowed. If you have any questions about the validity or a solution, please reach out to our team, and we will be glad to assist.
  • Given the wide range of APK files available, some may not work as intended. Third party sites may share older versions of the software that can work, some testing may be required to achieve desired functionality of the software.
