Q and Z Series - How to Manage Security Certificates

Installing Certificates

  1. First, ensure the panel has the latest available firmware installed. Check this article for more information.
  2. Press the "Settings" cog in the top right corner of the home screen.
  3. Select Network.
  4. Select Other.
  5. Select Encryption & credentials.
  6. Select Install a certificate.
  7. Select the appropriate certificate option from the list. If you are unsure which option to select, please refer to your certificate authority or IT administrator.
    • If "CA certificate" is selected, the warning below will be presented, due to the nature of CA certificates. Select "Install anyway" to proceed.
  8. Select the certificate file from your local storage or USB drive. Use the three lines menu in the top left to select a different storage location, if necessary. In the example below, the "ContentKeeper" file is the certificate, and is in a .crt file format.
  9. For Wi-Fi certificates, you will be prompted to enter the certificate name, as seen below. This is not required for CA certificates.
  10. Once the certificate is installed, you will briefly see a notification at the bottom of the screen for the type of certificate selected.
  11. If the certificate type selected does not match the provided file, an error message will be displayed. A different certificate type must be selected.

Viewing Certificates

  1. On the Encryption & credentials page (Settings > Network > Other > Encryption & credentials) select either Trusted credentials, or User credentials, depending on the type of certificate that was installed.
  2. For Trusted credentials, tap the USER option at the top of the page to view installed certificates.
  3. The User credentials option will show Wi-Fi certificates as well as VPN & app user certificates:

Deleting Certificates

  1. To remove a single certificate, from the Encryption & credentials page (Settings > Network > Other > Encryption & credentials), select either User credentials or Trusted credentials > USER. Tap the name of the certificate, then tap remove.
  2. To remove all certificates, tap the "Clear credentials" option on the Encryption & credentials page. Tap OK when prompted.
