NDM - How to Set Password for Local Users on the Q and Z

For the Q and the Z series panels, you can create or replace the password for the local users/profiles.

Achieving this task involves a two-step process.

Step 1: Determine the user number

In order for step 2 to work, you first need to identify the user number associated with your local user on the panel. Each username is linked to a specific user number which typically follows a pattern.

You may refer to the following table as a general guide to associate each user number with its respective username.

Username
User number
Owner0
User 110
User 211
User 312

To double confirm the number for your username, you can utilize the Remote Execute command to identify the user numbers associated with the existing profiles on the panel.

1. In the management portal, select one or multiple panels by adding a check mark next to it.

2. Click More actions from the top menu.

3. Click Remote execute.

4. Click Add new to create a new Remote execute repository.

5. Enter the following information:

  • Name: User list (You can name this however you want)
  • Command: pm
  • Arguments: list users | awk -F'[:{}]' '/UserInfo/{print $2 "\t" $3}'
  • Leave Command line, wait for exit, collect output, and run with high privileges alone

6. Click Confirm.

7. Select the repository you created and then click Apply.

8. Click the command log and then click More info.

9. From there, you will see the username and the corresponding user number.

From the example below, it states the number for User 1 is 10, etc.

Step 2: Create or change the password

Once the number has been determined, you will use the device setting function to send a command to create or change the password.

1. In the management portal, select one or multiple panels you intend to dispatch this command.

2. Click Device setting.

3. Click Add new to create a new device setting repository.

4. Add a name for your repository.

5. Click the  lock password icon on the left.

6. Enable Set user password.

7. In the User ID section, enter the user number corresponding to the user profile for which you intend to modify the password. As an example, if you wish to modify the password for the username called User 1, add 10. Modification is limited to a single user number at a time.

8. Enter the password. The password must be a 6 digit code.

9. Click Confirm to save the device setting repository.

10. Select the repository you created and click Apply.
