How to use "Schedule and Trigger" within NDM
Building a trigger
- From the NDM dashboard, on the left-hand side, click on the “Repositories” icon. It will be the second button from the bottom, and looks like a clipboard
- A pop-up menu will appear, select “Schedule & Trigger” from this list, in the next menu select “Add New” in the lower left-hand corner
- A new window will open to name the event or setting and give it a description.
- “Set as private” will only allow this user to see the created item
- “Set as read-only” will only allow the user and admins to edit the item
- Once the naming and description are set, click the flag icon on the left-hand side, in this menu there is a drop-down option to select a trigger.
- The four options for trigger
- Timing - will trigger an event based on time.
- As an example, to send a firmware update package every Friday at the end of business.
- Select timing range “Forever”
- A “Start Date” of when the trigger is made
- Execution time of 17:00 (5pm in 24-hour format)
- Range Type “Days of the week”
- Friday for “Select days of the week”
- Time to live will apply to a command in “pending” and how long it will remain in the queue
- As an example, to send a firmware update package every Friday at the end of business.
- Geofencing – will trigger an event based on location of the device,
- This setting is more applicable to mobile devices and may not be used as much as the others.
- Wi-Fi – will trigger an event based on a connection to a network
- This setting may be useful in more specific environments that utilize different SSID’s for technology, users, and guests.
- For example, changing the SSID to a guest network could trigger a workflow to block some of the applications on the device.
- This setting may be useful in more specific environments that utilize different SSID’s for technology, users, and guests.
- Startup – trigger an event based on when the panel powers on
- For example, when the panel is powered on and connected to the network, a workflow can be automated to run
- Timing - will trigger an event based on time.
- Click confirm in the bottom right to finish making the trigger
Building the schedule and event
- From the dashboard, click on the “Devices” icon on the left.
- The icon looks like a laptop and a phone
- Select a device via the three dots on the right
- Alternatively, utilize the checkbox’s for more than one panel
- Click on “Schedule & Triggers command”
- Click on “Select Trigger”, select the trigger that was just made
- Click on “Select Command”, select the event that you would like to follow the trigger
- Click “Confirm” to set the trigger and event.
