Below is an article about how to verify the serial port function. This method will require a USB to Serial adapter. These steps are to help verify that the serial port on your Newline Panel is active and functioning as expected. Please download the software and attempt to pass commands. Should you need assistance please reach out to support, contact methods will be listed at the end of this article.

In order to run a test on the RS232 port functionality of the panel, we recommend using AccessPort, or another program that can send RS232 commands from a computer. See below for instructions on using AccessPort with a Newline panel. (The setup for AccessPort below is applicable for most Newline panels)
  1. Download and extract the following zip file: http://www.sudt.com/download/AccessPort137.zip
    1. If this link does not work, go here to find the download link: https://sudt.com/en/ap/download.htm
  2. Open the folders until you see AccessPort.exe and launch it
  3. In the top left of the application, click the gears:
  4. Configure the settings so they look like this, except for the Port (this will be the COM port your USB to Serial adapter is associated with):

  5. When clicking OK, AccessPort will open the connection with the panel. You can also toggle the connection on and off with the Serial port switch button:

  6. Confirm these settings are applied toward the bottom of AccessPort:

  7. Copy and paste a Control Code from the RS232 PDF, then press enter to see if the command gets sent to the panel. As an example, send vol + as there will be a visual indication if the command was sent properly: 7F 08 99 A2 B3 C4 02 FF 01 18 CF

Below are the links to all RS232 controlling and querying codes. The RS232 port on the panel is always active.
