"Quick Format" a flash drive to FAT32 on Windows
- Plug your flash drive into your computer ( If the drive is bigger than 16GB, you may need specialized software in order to perform this task)
- Within Windows launch a File Explorer window
- From here locate your flash drive in the right-hand menu, it should look something like the image below on Windows 11
- Click on the "Format" option and Windows will start the formatting wizard
- A menu will appear that looks like the image below; change the drop-down menu to FAT32 (if not already selected) and hit start
- Add the files needed and eject the drive

- Insert a USB drive into your USB port.
- Launch “Disk Utility” (from Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility).
- Select the USB drive from the list on the left.
- Select “Erase” at the top.
- Type in a “Name” for the drive, then select a “FAT32”.
- Select “Erase.”
- Once complete, select “Done.”
- Once formatting is complete, the USB flash drive will be all set to store documents, pictures, videos, and other files on the removable drive.
